Small steps towards more sustainability

We care deeply about the environment. We do our part with a range of measures, both large and small. 

What we’re doing to achieve this:

• District heating using locally sourced wood chips throughout the building
   
• Heat recovery system for hot water in the spa
   
• Ongoing switch from conventional light fittings to LEDs
   
• Triple glazing on all windows
   
• On-site laundry facility using energy-saving detergents
   
• Laundry services tailored to your needs: you decide when you’d like fresh laundry
   
• Electric car charging point for our guests
   
• Free travel on public transport for guests

What we're doing to achieve this:

• Herbs are grown in the hotel’s own raised beds and in the garden
   
• We use fresh, locally sourced produce: bread, cheese, dairy products, organic eggs, and a variety of sausage and meat specialities from Adelboden  
   
• Locally sourced fruit and vegetables
   
• Beer from the Adelboden and Simmental breweries
   
• A wide selection of Swiss wines and partnerships with many local wine merchants
   
• The hotel has its own laundry facilities. This helps us to minimise transport
   
• Construction work carried out by Adelboden-based and regional building contractors

What we do to achieve this:

• Our kitchen concept focuses on a daily set menu, with a choice of 10 dishes. With a few exceptions, we do not offer buffets 
   
• The à la carte menu features only a few dishes 
   
• Egg dishes prepared to order – à la minute
   
• Processing of stale bread 
   
• Conversion of food waste into biogas

What we do to achieve this:

• A wide selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes on the lunch menu
   
• More than half of the 10 dishes on the daily set menu are meat- and fish-free

What we’re doing about it:

• Refill rather than buy new: All L’Occitane toiletries are refillable
   
• Reusable bamboo cups in the spa
   
• Jute bags for your spa stay
   
• Bath slippers with cardboard straps 
   
• Breakfast buffet featuring packaging-free products

What we do to achieve this:

• We support ProSpeciaRara through your water consumption in the restaurant
   
• We promote sustainability by sponsoring local projects
   
• We support our staff’s career development through further training
